Committees

Communications
The Communications Chair and Committee play a vital role in shaping the public image and outreach efforts of the SMPS Oklahoma Chapter. This team manages all chapter communications, including social media, newsletters, and website updates, ensuring members stay informed and engaged. They also create eye-catching graphics and promotional materials for each event, enhancing the chapter’s brand and visibility within the industry. Through strategic messaging and consistent updates, the Communications team helps drive engagement, promote events, and support the chapter’s mission of advancing business development and marketing for A/E/C professionals.

Membership
Encourage members of your industry network to become members. Help our membership committee keep up the great work. If you are feeling SMPS membership has helped you build a stronger network within the industry, then you’re feeling the value of membership! Who do you know who would make our industry network even stronger? This is the perfect committee for someone who is already great at connecting, but it’s also great for someone new to the industry or area because your volunteer “job” is to get out there and meet people.

Programs
The Program Committee works hard all year to make sure SMPS Oklahoma programs are attractive to our members and guests. This committee has a big job, but lots of opportunity for reasonable chunks of volunteer involvement. Volunteer responsibilities include ordering and set up lunches, moving chairs for programs, inviting speakers to participate and arranging thank you gifts.

Education
The Education Committee plans our annual Marketing Resolutions and Spring Training as well as all the webinars and special educational offerings throughout the program year. Help them plot and plan some great offerings for us this year. This committee is responsible for Bitesize Learning (lunch webinars), Cuppa Learning (breakfast webinars) and such classes as InDesign and photography workshops. This committee’s work is adding lots of value to your chapter membership, but don’t forget to take advantage of the online learning labs offered by Society headquarters.

Sponsorships
Being on the Sponsorship Committee is not just about asking people for money. Volunteers attend programs and act as greeters for guests and sponsors alike. Help with sponsor table toppers and banners at programs is also needed. Program sponsors get a chance to give a short commercial at each event they sponsor. The size of our audience is increasing. Program sponsorship is a great value at $200 per program. Non-member rates are still a great value at $400 per program. Other sponsorship options are available on the sponsorship page.

Community Outreach
The Community Outreach Chair is responsible for leading the Chapter’s initiatives to support our community’s non-profits through designated SMPS OK programs and events. This role also involves collaborating with non-profits, professional organizations, and industry firms on community outreach efforts. Our Community Outreach endeavors aim to actively promote diversity and inclusion within our community and industry. We focus on creating exposure opportunities, helping raise awareness of professional services marketing career paths for K-12 students, community colleges, and higher education institutions, particularly for underrepresented groups.
